Justice Abdul Qayyum Lehri
Justice Abdul Qayyum Lehri was born into a distinguished Baloch family in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. He received his early education in Quetta and graduated from the University of Balochistan. He subsequently obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University Law College, Quetta. In furtherance of his academic pursuits, he earned an M.Phil. in Public Policy from the Institute of Public Policy, Riphah International University, Islamabad.
Justice Lehri joined the Judiciary of Balochistan as a District and Sessions Judge in 2015. During his judicial career, he served in various districts of the province, including Hub (Lasbela) and Kalat, where he discharged his judicial responsibilities with distinction, diligence, and integrity. He also served as a Member of the Inspection Team of the High Court of Balochistan, contributing to the institutional oversight, monitoring, and evaluation of judicial performance throughout the province.
In recognition of his distinguished and unblemished service record, as well as his exemplary judicial performance, his services were requisitioned by the Hon’ble Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan for his appointment as Registrar (BPS-22) of the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan, a position he held from January 2021 to July 2025.
He rejoined the High Court of Balochistan and was posted as Registrar (BPS-22) of the High Court of Balochistan in July, 2025. In that capacity, he discharged a broad range of administrative and judicial responsibilities and contributed to the effective functioning and institutional administration of the Court.
Justice Lehri has also participated in a number of national and international professional development and capacity-building programmes. His engagements include A Trainers’ Programme jointly organized by AMAI and RASTI and sponsored by UNICEF; A Master Trainers’ Workshop held in Lahore; Service as an English Language Expert at Challenger English Language Academy, Quetta; Provision of pro bono legal assistance to the NGOs Danish and Rehnuma Help Line Center, with support from UNICEF; participation in a leadership programme in the United States of America focusing on the Rule of Law, victims and witnesses, and the Criminal Justice System; and participation in a training programme on the Rule of Law in South Korea, organized with the assistance of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Prior to joining the judiciary, Justice Lehri practiced law as an Advocate of the District Courts and the High Court for more than ten years. During his legal practice, he appeared in and pleaded numerous cases involving matters of significant and distinctive legal importance. He also served as the elected General Secretary of the Balochistan Bar Association, thereby contributing to the professional and institutional affairs of the legal fraternity in the province.
Justice Lehri was elevated as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Balochistan on August 11, 2026.
