Gardenning at Barkhan
Additional District and Sessions Court, Barkan at Rakni
February, 14, 2012
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Abdul Majeed Khan Nasir, Additional District and Session judge, for his warm welcome and friendly attitude. We had a good discussion on the methods presently being used, and those which could be applied to improving the lawn and garden as the area is huge.
We later visited the court premises and residences. We reached a consensus that different varieties of ornamental plants may be planted in the plots around the buildings and bungalow. The source of irrigation at the court premises is small bore which provides sufficient water.
The number of plants needed was more than 300. Mr. Asif Khoso, District Officer Forest was also present and committed to providing all the plants we required. Since eucalyptus trees are water intensive we decided not to plant any.
Conclusion
The court premises in Rakni is well designed and there were some ornamental and fruit trees already planted in the compound. Most of the front and back areas are covered with cement tiles. It was, after some discussion, decided that the next planting season would be executed in systemic and organized manner to achieve the best results possible.
Follow-up
Approval was sought for the purchase of specific plants from Punjab. A list of purchased items will be submitted as soon as it is completed.
Judicial Magistrate, Barkan
February, 14, 2012
I am thankful to Mr. Abdul Majeed Khan Nasir, additional district and sessions judge, for introducing me to the judicial magistrate at Barkan. We visited the new complex, which is a big area and did not see even one plant.
We then discussed methods on how to introduce and subsequently improve the lawn and garden.
The step would be to erect a boundary wall, which would provide protection against the elements. Once that was completed one could begin plantation. The minimum requirement for such a large expanse of barren ground would be a100 plants. Mr. Asif Khoso, District Officer Forest committed to proving all the required plants. The water supply also needed to be developed.
Conclusion
The Honorable Chief Justice inaugurated the plantation season by planting a Quetta Pine and Mr. Mohammad Siddique Mandokhail, planted a Saroo tree in the new judicial building.
