Follow-up Visits
I have had the pleasure of visiting Pishin several times. We prepared a map of the area around the court with the possible landscaping options. This map was handed over with over three hundred plants, which were issued by the District Forest officer. The non availability of a water source at this point restricts the possibility of Pishin court premises from reaching its potential.
Additional District and Sessions Judge, Killa Abdullah at Chaman
August 30 2012
Introduction
I would like to thank the Additional Session Judge, Killa Abdullah at Chaman, Mr. Muhammad Jamshaid Khan, for his hospitality and frankness throughout my time there. We held a meeting in the court premises. The focus of the meeting was the short term and long term plans for the development of the court premises in respect to the garden in Chaman. Possible plantation, staffing, and the availability of seeds were discussed taking into account that the weather in Chaman is hotter than Quetta and the rate of evaporation higher.
The already existing sources of irrigation were closely scrutinized and the following conclusions were reviewed:
- There exists a tube well, with a depth of 600 feet, with a 40HP submersible and a discharge of 3”.
- An overhead tank is under construction with a capacity of 20,000 gallons. We were informed by the executive engineer that it would take approximately told us that it would take 20 days or more to complete.
- There presently exists an underground tank (more than 20,000 gallons).
- There is no mosque at the premises, so waste water is not available, but there exists a canteen, where waste water could be diverted for the lawn.
- An electricity connection is available, and it merely requires QESCO to now provide us with the same.
After surveying the potential areas for gardens the following conclusions were drawn and suggestions made:
Plants, bushes and trees already growing on the premises:
- Quetta pine (quantity 42)
- Ash (quantity 21)

Conclusion
The court premise in Chaman is beautifully designed. Landscaping as well as cement work for pathways etc. has been completed. The area is vast and buildings need numerous persons to manage the gardens. It was observed that Saroo (Juniper), Rubina, Quetta Pine, Bottle Brush, ornamental Pomegranates grow successfully in this area, and therefore focus should be on using plants which are already acclimatized. Our visit concluded by reviewing the information available and suggestions were discussed to help facilitate planting a beautiful garden in Chaman.
