Mr. Zafar Jan
Mr. Zafar Jan, son of Bashir Ahmed, was born on June 6, 1978, at village Kalatuk, Turbat (Kech). He completed his primary education at Government High School Kalatuk and secondary education at Government Model High School, Turbat, in 1994. He obtained his F.Sc. from Atta Shad Degree College, Turbat, in 1996, and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Balochistan in 1998. In 2002, he graduated with an L.L.B. from Sindh Muslim Law College, Karachi.
He began his legal career as a junior associate with Barrister N.K. Jatoi at the N.K. Jatoi Law Chamber in Karachi and received his license to practice in lower courts from the Sindh Bar Council in 2003. He was enrolled as an advocate of the Balochistan High Court in 2005 and practiced law for seven years in the courts of the Makuran Division. During this period, he wrote numerous articles in newspapers advocating for social change and legal reforms.
In 2010, Mr. Zafar Jan was appointed as a special public prosecutor at the Anti-Terrorism Court in Makuran, Turbat, where he served for three years. On April 15, 2013, he was appointed as an Additional District and Sessions Judge, working in various districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Naseerabad, Barkhan, Musakhail, Awaran, and Sibi, in the roles of Additional or Acting/In-charge District and Sessions Judge.
On August 31, 2023, he was promoted to District and Sessions Judge, initially serving in Washuk and later in Gwadar. Throughout his tenure, he has presided over numerous civil, criminal, family, and other cases, including appeals and revisions. He has participated in various training programs at the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad, the Balochistan Judicial Academy in Quetta, and the Sindh Judicial Academy in Karachi. Additionally, he has lectured on criminal law at the Balochistan Judicial Academy.
Mr. Zafar Jan attended national conferences, including one on 'Resilient Pakistan: Calibrating Population and Resources' at the Supreme Court of Pakistan and another on “Administration of Justice: 75 Years – Reflecting on the Past and Looking Towards the Future.” He notably achieved first position nationwide in resolving numerous cases while serving as the In-charge District and Sessions Judge (MCTC) in Barkhan.
Recently, in April 2025, he visited China with the Honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Yaha Afridi, to participate in the Meeting of the Chief Justices of the SCO Member States in Hangzhou and Shanghai. In May 2025, he attended the "Technology and Law Conference 2025" at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland.
On July 12, 2025, he was posted as a Member Inspection Team at the High Court of Balochistan and assumed his charge as MIT on July 21, 2025.
